Proposed Topic in the form of an Essential Question:

Is animal cruelty a subject that should be taken in initiative all over the world?

Rationale for Choice

What about this topic appeals to you? Why did you choose it?

After numerous thoughts of what I would like to research for my senior project, I finally decided to choose animal cruelty. I have always been curious about how animals are treated with an abusive owner, or how they end up in animal shelters. I am curious about how animal slaughter works and why people choose to be vegetarian. I want to see if watching videos of animal slaughter impact peoples thoughts or opinions?

What do you already know about this subject?

I don't know a whole lot about this topic other then what other people would already know about animal cruelty.

What are you hoping to learn about the subject?

I am hoping to seek if people actually care for their pets at home. If animals are being well taken cared of in animal shelters. Why do people really become vegetarians or vegans?

What are you most interested in regarding the topic?

If people are disgusted by the disturbing images of farm animals being killed for their meat, then why are people still eating it? I am one of those people and still question myself. If animal shelters are being run properly?

What potential risks or challenges do you foresee for your project?
Will I be able to research both topics for animal cruelty for pets and animal slaughter? For my community service I can volunteer at an animal shelter.

1. I believe that technology and the media is lessening younger children to think on their own.
2. I believe that human trafficking is changing the image for women.
3. I believe that reality shows are influencing people to do what they see on television.
4. I believe that we should take more initiative for poverty.
5. I believe that animal cruelty should be taken in initiative all around the world.

5. I think people should care more for their animals since some people do not realize that they are responsible for them. Animal shelters should have better care for the animals that have been abandoned and abused. Animal slaughter is another topic that I believe should be discussed with more people to give them a better understanding of what is happening to animals. Animals don't deserve to be abused and some people are unaware of it. Killing animals for having a large amount of them in shelters has been an issue that hasn't been solved. Outside of the country, I've seen places with no animal care such as shelters or dog catchers, therefore pets that have been abandoned from their homes are on the street dying. Instead of buying a well groomed healthy dog at an expensive pet store, people should adopt pets from shelters and save them. Either people should take leading action in animal cruelty or avoid anything from leading to it.
